G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 “Adventure Team” Sets
Yeah, more G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 (Amazon.com search*), but only because my brain finally “clicked” and figured out just what cool stuff I had missed out on by not paying more attention to the entire G.I. Joe: Sigma 6 series. Namely, the fantastic Adventure Team sets released by Hasbro in 2007.
Hasbro released three Adventure Team sets in 2007, and all three look like far too much fun for me to not own these. It’s obvious that these were totally inspired by the original Adventure Team toys of the seventies!
- Terror of the Swamp – Recondo, a crocodile, and several other accessories were packed inside this set. I found one on eBay, but the price is a bit too high so I’ll keep my eyes open for a better deal. That croc likes great! You can see the toy at yojoe.com and joebattlelines.com.
- Danger in the Jungle – This set includes Storm Shadow, a tiger, and more goodies. That tiger looks so good that I kinda wish that Hasbro would take another shot with the Adventure Team concept and launch a new wave of toys for the 3.75-inch scale line. You can see pics at yojoe.com and joebattlelines.com.
- Pyramid of Peril – The last of the produced sets, this pack comes with Snake Eyes, a snake, some gear, and a neat little altar that the snake is obviously protecting. I managed to snag this on eBay for about $35; you can expect me to share once the toy arrives. But for now you can see the set at joebattlelines.com.
And then there are the unproduced G.I. Joe: Sigma Six Adventure Team sets to make all of us sad. Damn, all three of the unproduced sets — unproduced Dusty at generalsjoes.com, other unproduced sets at generalsjoes.com — look fantastic and it is really unfortunate that these never saw release. And the Sigma 6 (Amazon.com search*) line didn’t run long enough for it to really be worth producing this as a nostalgia wave, so the photos shared online are probably as close as I’ll ever get to the toys.
Well, I’ll just have to be happy with my Pyramid of Peril set when it arrives.

Man, I miss the Sigma 6 line. I couldn’t stomach the cartoon, but the toys were a lot of fun. The pyramid set it pretty cool, but Terror in the swamp was definitely my favorite adventure set that came out.
@clark – I’ll be chasing down all of those Adventure Team sets. Terror in the Swamp looks like tons of fun so it’s good to hear you enjoy it.
Wow! I didn’t know there were unreleased Adventure Team sets!
I’m not a huge fan of Gorillas, but that set looked like it would have been really neat. i definitely would have grabbed the Scorpion and Shark sets, too. 🙁
It’s really too bad there’s no way the unproduced figures could be released. Didn’Wasn’t there talk about the cartoon to be airing on the Hub? If so, maybe there could be a small resurrection of the toy line?
I haven’t looked for it for a while, but Ground Blast Heavy Duty could be found on eBay for a while, ranging from $40-$70, if I recall. I’d have to dig through years of emails to remember what I paid for it, but I’m pretty sure it was on the low end, I would have had a hard time paying over $40 for it. It’s a really nice repaint, I quite like it.
As for the released Adventure sets, they are really great. I have Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow, the tiger is nice, if you have Timber from the Arctic Snake Eyes set you pretty much know what you’re getting. The Cobra from the Snake Eyes set is really great. Those two aren’t too hard to get for a good price. I never could find the Crocodile set for a price I was willing to pay. I do have a loose Recondo that came missing most of his accessories and it’s alright, but I wanted the set for the Croc.
