Spotted Online – Concept IG-88 Action Figure
I bet the headline alone told you that I was gonna be grabbing my very own Concept IG-88 action figure as soon as he hits the market. Special thanks to Monsterforge for directing me to rebelscum.com where I got my first look at this upcoming 3.75-inch action figure.
This guy is gonna go great with my IG-86 (reviewed here) and IG Lancer (reviewed here) action figures.
Doesn’t that look awesome though? I LOVE the concept line. I remember the pinheads at Toyfare magazine who laughed when someone suggested that Kenner produce a line of figures based on the concept art of Ralph McQuarrie. The line has gone on to become one of the most sought out subsets in the history of the franchise. Narrow-mindedness like that is one of the reasons I quit reading Toyfare in the first place– that and the fact that I find out everything they have in their rag weeks (sometimes months) before it hits the stands. Still… Twisted Toyfare Theater is pretty funny!
Glad you dig the fig, man!
Note: Hasbro not Kenner… I’m all retro today 😛
I like the look, it all depends on what joints he sports though.
Phil, you DO see the build-a-droid note under IG-88’s name paper, right? You’d have to buy every other figure from the wave to get the pieces to build him.
Build-a- Droid? No doubt the rest of the series will be Gungans and Ewoks… RAAAAAGE!!!!!
I took it to mean that this figure was part of a Build-a-Droid line and not actually a Build-a-Droid figure.
I guess we’ll know soon. If he is a Build-a-Droid figure than I see myself buying some Star Wars figures that I would have likely otherwise avoided.
Hasbro!!!!!!! (I’m shaking my fist at the sky. Really.)
I think it’s a sucky move in that there are people who are JUST collecting the McQuarrie line… kinda breaks up the set. Boo, Hasbro!!!
I love the guy and would love to have an army of him!!! turn his head and chest and you got a completely new robot! (the hands get pulled out easily) Sadly he got a swivel neck & waist but whatever – he´s a robot of the seventies! i´d love to have the Mego Blackhole robots to put next to him…
