Elysium Trailer Online

The new movie from the director of District 9* now has a trailer and an official website — itsbetterupthere.com — and after Matt Damon’s work in the Bourne trilogy I have more faith in his choices of films, so this one is a movie I may have to see in theaters.

And the trailer makes this look like it’s not too far out of my workload at the moment. At the office I’ve been slowly getting into the Car Wars redesign, and part of that project is a complete recreation and reboot of the game universe. While the setting shown in Elysium is far beyond anything we’ll see in Car Wars, the basic idea of dividing the society into two parts — the elite and the destitute — is central to my vision for the new world.

And hey, any time that I find myself reading books like Soft Apocalypse* and One Second After* as research for work has to prove I’ve got a fun job, right?
