B.M.O.G. Partformers Coming to Kickstarter
In a forum thread at TFW2005 a new group has been sharing pics and info on their planned B.M.O.G. series of partformer transforming robot toys. If you’re unfamiliar with the term “partformer” it basically is used to describe toys where the robot snaps apart and then is reassembled into a new shape. A fantastic example is toys like the old 1984 Marchon Roadbots: Hookorr review, Loadorr review, and Cementorr review.
According to the TFWiki:
This term is often used derisively, as by and large more modern engineering technology has removed this style of transformation from the line.
Well, I disagree. The partforming approach can be neat, and what I’m seeing from the B.M.O.G. thread makes me think the new line has potential.
I had Cementorr as a kid but mine was gray, blue and black. I got him, Windcharger and Ironhide from my parents that Christmas… it was my induction into robot toys!
This BMOG looks interesting and I’ll definitely follow the Kickstarter.
I’ve been trying to figure out how to introduce mecha and transforming robots into Kaiju Kaos – The Miniatures Game. Maybe I need to look further into partformer designs.
@Stratos -Partforming would work really well for a minis game. Especially if you can find a way to use magnets for all of the joints and connectors.
Magnets better than peg n hole?
