Does the Toy City Vulcan Use Adventure Kartel Tomorrow King Hands?
When I posted about the Vulcan 12-inch scale action figure a few days ago (posted here) I found myself trading posts on Twitter with Ben Mininberg (blog, Twitter) after he said:
I’d like to see more, too, but I really hope they aren’t just going to recast 3A TK gloves like on that prototype.
Having never owned one of the Tomorrow King Adventure Kartel action figures (Amazon.com search*) I had to search the web. Taking a very close look at pablolobo’s Tomorrow King Oyabun Naga review at The Fwoosh the hands looked very similar, but the details were different in places. Ben and I kept chatting on Twitter and Ben said:
It looks like Vulcan has the standard TK gloves with an extra rim and that semi-circle detail added. . . . The size, wrist guard, finger pose, and piping are identical.
Now I’ve no idea exactly what is happening with the hands on the Vulcan, but I suspect Ben is dead on when he says that the hands are modified from the Tomorrow King hands. Just take a look at the below pic — Tomorrow King on left, Vulcan on right — and decide for yourself. They look very, very similar to me and I can totally see how the Tomorrow King hands could have been used as the base for the new hands.

I’d say influenced, certainly.
Influenced at the very least. I wonder if the company would be open to discussing the design process behind this figure.
