“A Dungeons & Dragons Adventure”

Scanned out of the second issue of Marvel’s Crystar comic, this classic ad for Basic Dungeons & Dragons (Amazon.com search*) again has me wondering at what point the advertising in comic books took a dramatic turn from the creative to . . . well, to kinda bland at times. In this ad TSR created a mini-comic story to hook us and get us, as kids, to want to explore the Dungeons & Dragons game.

Someone needs to start creating ads that are inspired by the comic book ads of the seventies and eighties. Get on that, world, okay?
