Star Wars Black Greedo and Princess Leia Clog Target’s Shelves
Gina and I walked into a local Target yesterday afternoon where I encountered the worst example I’ve seen yet of Star Wars Black 6-inch scale action figures (Amazon.com search*) running into trouble at retail. A single Han Solo action figure was resting with six Princess Leia and six Greedo action figures . . . and the entire aisle looked like Christmas had exploded with toys jumbled and falling all over the place.

Wow, I have not seen a one at my Target in weeks.
Well, isn’t that a bit of a glass-half-empty look at things? You could also say that there are no Boba Fetts and virtually no Han Solos 🙂
Also, there are no Pilot Lukes or R2D2s, which is encouraging. And this line only started hitting at retail in the last month or so. I’m not saying the line is booming, but this isn’t anything we haven’t seen from other lines – female figures and obscure characters pegwarm. I suspect Hasbro knew that going in. It’s just the way it goes.
As long as Boba Fett, the Sandtrooper, Darth Maul and evidently even Han are doing well, I’m not going to hit the panic button.
@Marv – The Austin area Targets seem to be okay with SWB figures. And while I was in Atlanta the week before Christmas I found the toys at every Target and TRU I stopped at.
It really seems to be a regional distribution problem.
Not seen any Greedos, Leias, or Hans. Luke in pilot fatigues, Maul, and R2 are the shelf/peg warmers in my neck of the woods (Twin Cities)–by far. The others you speak of are gone before anyone gets to them.
Interesting to see what’s popular and what’s not depending on region.
