Kenner 1982 Star Wars Scout Walker and Vehicle Maintenance Energizer Commercial

As a kid I had the Vehicle Maintenance Energizer (and have three of them today, but we won’t speak of such things). The hoses, the tools, the lifty and spinny piece . . . hold on a sec. Why did I choose this toy over so many others at the time? Right, I remember now. It was really freaking cheap! And that also explains why I didn’t have a Scout Walker as a kid, because it wasn’t anywhere near as cheap as the small accessories, the Mini-Rigs, or grabbing two or three action figures at once.

This 1982 Kenner commercial has the classic music, kids playing with their toys, and all of the right ingredients to trigger feelings of nostalgia in anyone who was playing with Star Wars action figures in the early eighties. I doubt Hasbro will use this music for new Star Wars toy commercials next year, but it sure would be fun if they did.

Hell, it would be fun if I saw new Star Wars toy commercials . . .

  1. I always used my Vehicle Maintenance Energizer with the Millennium Falcon. My AT-ST never got repaired only destroyed in epic battles in the backyard!

And you’re right, it would be nice to see a new Star Wars action figure/vehicle/playset commercial.

  2. @The Rook – The loss of Saturday morning cartoons on the networks seems to have had a negative effect on toy commercials. Some are still made, but nothing like there used to be.
