Masters of the Universe Mini-Comic Author Donald Glut Loses Court Case
The story can be found in a few different places — Mattel Victorious in Battle for Ownership to “Masters of the Universe” Comics and An Original ‘Masters of the Universe’ Comic Writer Loses Ownership Suit Against Mattel — but it basically boils down to Mattel locking down rights to the original mini-comics that were included with the toys.
Read the stories, see the he-man.org thread about the event, and then don’t miss this 2001 interview with Glut where he says:
“Remember that my work was simply done as a “work for hire.” I did it fast and turned it in. Not much thought or time went into any of it.”

Reading it over, it doesn’t sound as if he had much of a case.
@ShenaniTims – I agree. Makes me wonder why a court case ever started. Especially after Glut admitted the work was a “work for hire” arrangement with Mattel.
