Reserved! Elio Motors Car Will Be Mine!
I did something a little unexpected last week. I placed a non-refundable reservation with Elio Motors so that once it’s available I’ll have a new car. The Elio is being built in the US, gets 84 miles to the gallon, and looks so damned awesome that I’m ready to snatch one and go for a spin. And at only $6,800 it’s far more affordable than I was expecting when I saw the first pics.
These are expected to start releasing late this year/next year so I jumped in at the highest level; this means I’ll be one of the first to receive an Elio once the car is ready. And I am getting a green one — which they’re calling “sour apple” — because, well, because it’s green and looks incredible.
I’ll have to upgrade the sound system, add a bluetooth hands-free system, and probably drop some cash on making the car just a bit neater. Do you have any idea how tempting it is to take something that looks like this in for a custom paintjob?
Neat! Do you do a lot of city driving? I’m not sure how confident I would be taking that out on the highway — at least not up in my neck of the woods.
This is tempting and the price point is amazing. Make sure you let us know how you like it later. Maybe I’ll pick one up at some point.
