1996 Trendmasters “Independence Day” Toy Commercial

The 1996 Independence Day movie (Amazon.com search*) gets some laughs these days, but for a summer popcorn explosionfest I think the movie still stands up just fine. It was never meant as high art, people!

And as proof that the movie was always meant to be nothing more then cinematic escapism never forget that Trendmasters released ID4 toys and action figures when the movie was in theaters. You forgot about those toys? Well, this commercial should spark your memory a bit.

  1. Trendmasters was such an amazing toy company, I really miss them. I still have my ID4 Alien Attacker ship, really fun toy. They managed to jam electronics into almost anything.

The coolest thing about their entire ID4 lineup was they all came with a 3.5 floppy disk that had a simple video game on them for your computer.
