Hasbro really seems to respect the work IDW is doing with the Transformers comics these days. It’s almost as if someone at Hasbro remembered that characters and stories tell toys, and they seem to remember that it’s much cheaper to produce comics than animation. How else can we explain toys like the currently-on-shelves Transformers Generations Whirl*, a fantastic character with characteristics and “screen” time in the More Than Meets The Eye comics?

Now what would happen if Hasbro and IDW took the next step and started creating an animated series together?

The daredevil flying style of Autobot Whirl might make it look like he could crash at any moment, but he’s in total control. The mere sight of him over the battlefield is enough to send enemies running for cover, trying to reach a safe distance before he crashes. Any Decepticons unlucky enough to stick around give him a chance to take his Null-Ray Cannon out for a spin.
