Why a 6-Inch Scale “G.I. Joe Black” is Unlikely
A few months ago I posted my own thoughts on a 6-inch scale G.I. Joe action figure series, stating I found the concept unlikely to happen and destined to fail if it did. Well, I can add another reason to the list of why this idea will likely never happen: too many hardcore G.I. Joe fans are against it.
In this hisstank.com thread the fans have been voting for months now, and the would/would not vote is split nearly 50/50. And with the entire G.I. Joe fanbase collapsing to the point that Hasbro’s giving the line a break it seems unlikely 6-inch figures will happen anytime soon. Maybe years from now, but the declining G.I. Joe audience just can’t support such a line.
Hell, I’m thinking it’s unlikely Gentle Giant will bring us a Jumbo Vintage line for G.I. Joe (hinted at here), but I’ll keep holding out hope such a series happens. Kickstarter?

I’m honestly against it despite preferring 1/12 over 1/18. GI Joes are consistently a better product than Hasbro’s 6″ output; I’d rather get repaints of existing joe bodies than get something on par with the 6″ Black Series.
..it might be obvious but i haven’t liked SWB very much so far.
How would the same question have polled with Star Wars fans before the 6″ figures were announced? I don’t think there was overwhelming support for the idea but that didn’t stop Hasbro from going through with it.
I just want a 6 inch Snake Eyes to fight with Star Wars Black Darth Maul.
I don’t know if G.I. Joe fans overwhelmingly want what is best for the franchise. Clearly the 4 in. figures pretty much ran their course, perhaps trying something new might appeal to the 6 in. audience that doesn’t collect 4 in. might be worth a shot, even if it was a limited manner to start with.
