Review – Funko X Vans X Star Wars Boba Fett Vinyl Toy
Last month I reviewed the Darth Vader vinyl toy from the Funko X Vans promotion (review here), and in that review I wrote:
“Funko designed a Darth Vader with an over-sized head and exaggerated proportions that make me really regret not ordering enough shoes to also score the Boba Fett toy that was part of the promotion.”
Well, thanks to the magic of eBay I now have the Boba Fett, and I can safely say that every single classic Star Wars fan on the planet should be out there right now trying to lock down both of these fun vinyl toys before they’re no longer available at reasonable prices. These are great!
A Radical Promotional Idea
As you likely already know, the Vans Star Wars shoes are easy to find (Amazon.com search*), but it’s possible that you missed the promotion with the Journeys website; those of us who pre-ordered the shoes from Journeys received a free vinyl toy from Funko, and now I own both of the toys that were created for the promotion.
Another Fun Funko Boba Fett
Funko has created other Boba Fett vinyl toys in the past — Pop! Vinyl Boba Fett review here, Blox Boba Fett review here — and this latest design just upholds the Funko tradition of pouring love into every Boba Fett design they create. Like the companion Vader toy (review here) this design sports kicks and a skateboard, and it’s clearly a stylized version of our favorite bounty hunter.
Six-Inch Fett
The tough-vinyl Boba Fett stands six-inches tall, and holding the toy you can really get a feel for how durable a piece it is. While I’m not planning to drop this, I get the feeling that the toy could survive a few accidental falls without anything breaking. There may be some paint scuffs — and around here there’s a chance the dogs will chew the toy to bits — but the fall itself wouldn’t harm the plastic. That’s a really great feature, especially considering the number of toys I’ve lost to drops over the years.
Closing Thoughts
My previous Darth Vader review and all of the pics here should tell you everything you need to know about this Boba Fett, but just in case there are any questions let me close with this statement:
If you own and enjoy Funko’s other Boba Fett toys then you want this in your collection.
You had to pre-order crappy shoes to get a stupid hipster toy? No thanks. But hey, whatever they have to do to sell Vans to 30-something man-children…
Vans are some of the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever worn.

@Barbara Buckfutt – Skate shoes are pretty tough. They’re not designed for a lot of walking, but the shoes can take a beating. Definitely not crappy shoes.
