Marvels “Stomps Out Bullying” With Special Covers
Anti-bullying organization Stomp Out Bullying has teamed up with Marvel to create a series of anti-bullying covers for October and National Bullying Prevention Month. I’m not sure if these covers will realistically have any impact at all on a bully or two — in my day a comic book would have been an awesome way to attract a bully, not stop one — but it’s good to see Marvel trying to raise awareness of the issue.
Fast Company has the story, including more of the covers (which appear to focus on promoting Guardians of the Galaxy).
The Hulk comforts an under-sized, verbally abused football player and ultra cool Rocket Raccoon shares a lunch table with a not-so-popular boy. There’s also a beautiful illustration of Guardian Gamora chatting with a young loner, who doesn’t quite feel that she fits in. These illustrations stand out, because the super heroes are nonviolent.
