2003 McFarlane Toys Collector’s Club Ad

In 2003 McFarlane started running Case Files: Sam and Twitch (see Wikipedia) even though the very first Sam & Twitch comic series hadn’t officially closed down. McFarlane discusses the problems with the 1999-2003 series on the letters page in Case Files: Sam and Twitch #1, but at the moment I’m more interested in sharing this ad for the McFarlane Toys Collector’s Club than I am going over yet-one-more-in-a-series of Image books that were cancelled because the company couldn’t meet publishing schedules.

McFarlane Toys (Amazon.com search*), as many of you already know, was a leader in upgrading action figures from static figures with limited articulation to micro-statues with some movement and an amazing appearance. In the late nineties and early 2000s the company made a lot of incredible-looking toys, but these days if it’s not Halo, The Walking Dead, or sports-inspired toys it just doesn’t seem to happen.

To see what I mean just check the official McFarlane Toys webstore and compare the offerings to what is shown in the above ad. Things are very different today.
