“New style. New scale. New attitude.”
This 2004 ad for Hasbro’s Star Wars Unleashed series (Amazon.com search*) really makes me regret not taking a chance on the line when it was new. That Chewbacca looks incredible, and as I look back at the figures that Hasbro released in the line I’ve gotta admit that many of them — hello, Bounty Hunters! — are far cooler than I had realized at the time.

Yeah, these guys were definitely pretty cool looking. 2004/ 2005 me wasn’t interested in them, but I think I would be much more interested in them today. My wife and I do have the Anakin/ Obi-Wan duel set and had them on our entertainment center for quite some time. They were definitely some nice looking, dynamic figures.
@Barbecue17 – Was there much movement in the figures? I kinda got the impression they were small statues.
My biggest problem with these is they came out during the time when “Unleashed” “unchained” and “Extreme” was really all the rage.
The thing I really liked was the little Unleashed sets that didn’t last very long. I was really hoping for an Endor themed set, but they didn’t make it past Empire.
@Vincent – Extreme Star Wars Unchained!!! Sounds like a Rob Liefeld take on Star Wars.
Not sure what it is, but there is something not right about that Chewie, maybe he’s just to EXTREME.
@Philip,
I remember these being statues with some movement. Kind of like some of the figures McFarlane released. There was some articulation, but it was pointless because the figure was pretty much stuck in a pose.
@Stunt Zombie – Thanks! That sounds about right and makes me think I should try to get at least one of them.
