31-Inch Stormtroopers at Walmart

Jakks Pacific’s 31-inch Star Wars action figures (Amazon.com search*) have been mostly amazing and I’ve been snatching up each one . . . until now. I was quite excited to see the 31-inch Stormtrooper at Walmart, but as soon as I held the toy and started looking I decided to pass. Why? That helmet is way too small for the body and the longer I held the toy the more bothered I was by the small helmet. Damn. I doubt I’ll ever again get a chance at a giant Stormtrooper, but that helmet would have bothered me forever.

  1. It’s too small, and the sculpt is really pretty bad in comparison to the solid job they did with the rest of the uniform. The Stormtrooper helmet has always been difficult for toymakers to nail, but you’d think somebody would just scan and actual helmet and give the files to all the toy license holders so we won’t have this problem anymore.

  2. This post was very reassuring. The initial excitement seeing this (also at Wal-Mart) was instantly quelled by the disproportionate head. I’ve even seen this (to lesser degree) on the smaller SW figures. If they come out with a 31″ Boba Fett and screw it up, I saw we storm the manufacturer and take no hostages. 😉

  3. There is another version out there that is movie accurate and doesnt have the Rebels style head. Ive found it at Farm & Fleet, but im sure it will be other places too.

  4. I have mixed feelings about these massive figures. The Darth Vader is good, and the MoS Superman wasn’t bad, but not many of them have grabbed me. I’ve got a NECA 1/4 Predator arriving for Christmas, and I think he is going to cause enough space headaches without throwing these guys into the mix haha!

  5. I’m pretty sure that helmet is accurate to the show. Every time I see a Stormtrooper on Star Wars Rebels, I think he doesn’t look quite right, and this one looks perfectly not quite right. I hope you know what I mean.
