Marchon Road Bots Painting

Almost six years ago I opened up the Marchon Road Bots toys so that I could play with the robots and post reviews. Well, those reviews have been online since January of 2009 — Hookorr review, Loadorr review, Cementorr review — but I did a poor job of photographing the packaging at a high resolution. The pics are okay, but they’re too small!

And worse yet, each one of the packages had a price tag in a terrible spot. That beautiful Road Bots painting was damaged on every package that I had, and I finally decided we just couldn’t have that. So I have scanned all three of the cards (I usually trash packaging, but these three were too special to destroy) and imported the images into Photoshop. Below is the result of editing the combined images.

Most of the work was done to Hookorr’s head (the price tag fell on his head on all three of the cards), but I also extended the edges, removed the wording beneath the robots, and adjusted the colors. The final step was to sharpen up the tag line and enlarge it just a little; that helped me to conceal some dirty areas on the artwork.

Below is one of the scanned packages to give you an idea of what I started working from.

    1. @Marvin Malkowski Jr. – Thank you. I wish I could find that 1986 Toy Fair catalog I missed out on; I know there’s more Marchon Road Bots info in the world and I don’t know how to find it. 🙁
