Stickers Suck!

I know that I just mentioned the Transformers Generations Roadbuster* toy, and the look at the review at Figure Fan Zero convinced me to go ahead and start applying stickers to the toy.

Damn. Very first sticker and I screw it all up.

Crooked Autobot symbol right on the chest. Damn. The problem is that the sticker is way too damned big for the area; between the size of the sticker and the recessed area you have to work in there’s little room for error or to maneuver. I wish I was as perfect as the person who applied the stickers for the packaging and press pics . . . wait a moment. The Autobot symbol on the official pics is different. And it’s smaller.

What the hell? That Autobot symbol with the white outline even looks better than what was actually packaged with the Roadbuster* toy. Stickers suck bad enough as it is, but noticing that the stickers in the box don’t match the package is even more annoying.

Damn. This is why I’ve hesitated applying these stickers; I figured one would get screwed up in placement because that always happens. I just never once guessed that it would be the most important sticker on the toy.

  1. Brother, you aren’t wrong. I trimmed almost every sticker on this one, squinting under a bright lamp, and it took a couple of hours. I hate stickers – specifically the stickers that the G.I. Joe and Transformers teams at Hasbro do. They are rarely cut right – the Star Wars stuff is usually the right size, but not always. They need to kidnap the Playmobil sticker team, those are always 100% perfect. The only line I can remember being more consistently unpleasant came in the form of the Zoids line of the early 2000s, nearly all of which required trimming in US or Japan releases.

  2. Uh oh. I feel responsible.

I had lots of problems too and I was too lazy to try to trim them. About halfway through I realized that some just wouldn’t fit where they were supposed to go and I stopped. I’m glad I put on what I did, but it was not a fun endeavor and I usually love putting on stickers.
