Spotted Online – Exosquad Amphibious E-Frame Review at CollectionDX
Can you believe that Playmates’ Exosquad series (Amazon.com search*) is now over two decades old? Wow, where does the time even go?
Anyway, we can all enjoy a look back at the Exosquad toys with this review at CollectionDX. The Amphibious E-Frame is one of the larger mechs in the Exosquad line, with the cockpit big enough that two action figures will fit inside. Looks fantastic, and I am again reminded that I should pull out the Exosquad DVD and watch the series all of the way through.

I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of Exosquad — that’s a real shame, because looking online, it looks great! I would have loved the toys — but it looks like their release may have coincided with the peak popularity of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers over here in Australia, which may be why I missed it completely.
Unfortunately Season 2 never made it to DVD.
Exo-Squad was arguably one of the best animated shows from the ’90s, even rivaling Batman: The Animated Series. It dealt with mature, adult subjects and didn’t water anything down for kids. The animation was good in addition to the great stories and compelling characters. I never collected the toys, but it’s one of those ones I definitely wish I did!
