25% Off Star Wars Toys in 1985
The January 24, 1985 issue of The Miami News shares with us this ad for the Lionel Play World stores where, over thirty yeas ago, we could buy Kenner Star Wars action figures and vehicles for 25% off. The put the action figures at $2.16/each, meaning that every single one of us likely would have stepped into the store and bought all of the figures that were on the pegs. Man, I love finding these old newspaper ads!
The Google newspaper archives continue to be an awesome reference. I may not be finding much material for my current books (Kickstarter page), but does it really matter when enjoyable material like this is trapped in the archives and waiting to be set free? I’m kinda surprised we don’t regularly see these old newspaper ads pop up on blogs and forums across the web.
