Inside Each Sold Separately*, my book about action figure marketing in the eighties, there’s an entire section devoted to the practice of including mini-comics with action figures. Those old mini-comics were a great way to tell us stories about our new toys, but the only real problem was that to get all of the stories we had to buy all of the toys or, these days, chase down each book.

For Masters of the Universe, things are about to change for those of us who want to read all of those old mini-comics. Change how? Through the planned publication of the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe Minicomic Collection*. Yes!

Priced at $30, I am thinking that the product description listing the book at over 1,000 pages has to be a mistake. The actual sales text says “Over 1000 pages of minicomics collected for the first time featuring interviews with the original comics creators!” Okay, that’s fine. But please don’t let this be a one-for-one translation. I figure we should get four mini-comic pages to every one full-page in the new book, which would bring this down to 250-300 pages.

Over 1,000 pages would make the book virtually unreadable! How would I even hold such a thing?

Regardless of the specifics I can report that mine has been pre-ordered. Now I wait!
