Chuck Norris Toys Return to Black Belt in 1986
Talk about an overreaction in a letter to the editor! Yesterday we looked at an article from the July, 1986 issue of Black Belt magazine. The announcement of Kenner’s (then new) Chuck Norris action figures didn’t seem all that exciting or spectacular, but a letter from reader Thomas S. Arcuri in the November, 1986 issue of the magazine must be seen.
Arcuri is overly critical of the line and I’m not sure if he was most bothered by the violent toys or the roleplay set that included a play black belt for kids. The letter’s well worth a read, and seeing this in Black Belt magazine just drives home the strangeness of Kenner even creating an action figure line based on Chuck Norris.
