Review – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “It’s Pizza Time” Oversized Glass Mug

Thank you, Entertainment Earth, for shipping this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “It’s Pizza Time” Oversized Glass Mug* to me for review. I strongly suspect either someone over there knows that Gina and I collect decorative glasses . . . well, it’s that or there was some dumb luck involved in this landing on my doorstep. I’ll just stick with “they know their affiliates’ tastes” and leave it at that.

It’s Massive!

When they say “oversized” they are not kidding! This Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “It’s Pizza Time” Oversized Glass Mug* stands 8.5-inches tall and is insanely heavy. Hey, when you get this much glass in one place you shouldn’t be surprised when lifting the mug is a chore of its own. And lifting it once you’ve filled it to the brim? I recommend two hands!

It’s Fantastic!

Okay, mug, you did your one job very well. What job is that? Well, when it’s advertised as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mug I expect great TMNT artwork, and that’s exactly what this work of kitchen art brings us. Classic-style Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles artwork printed in comicy colors and complete with drippy cheese patterns. At least I think those wavy lines near the logo and along the top are meant to represent cheese. I could be wrong. (Again. As usual.)

It’s Decorative!

The first thing I did after hefting the mug and being impressed by its size was to check the display case where the TMNT tumblers* are held here at home. Why? To see if I could fit this towering mug into the same display, of course! Hmmmmm. Maybe, but it is going to take a bit of shuffling of our collection of glasses and pitchers to make this work; I guess part of my Memorial Day will be spent positioning glassware in cabinets. I sure know how to live life!

It’s Not Really For Use! (Is It?)

This gigantic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles “It’s Pizza Time” Oversized Glass Mug* is so heavy that I cannot see it really being used when drinking, but maybe I’m just not opening my mind wide enough to the possibilities of grabbing this thing in both hands and drowning myself in whatever beverage is held inside. I am sticking with my plan to display this with the other glassware; if you decide this is perfect for a party then I won’t judge. Really.

It’s Over!

Again, thank you to Entertainment Earth for sending this over to me. The mug is heavy, attractive, and goes quite well with the TMNT-branded glasses already in our collection here at home. I will seriously never drink from this thing, but considering we have dozens of glasses and mugs that are art objects and not beverage vessels that isn’t a strike against the mug at all. This is a great collectible for any Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan looking for something a bit unusual and fun.
