2007 Boys’ Life Ad for Star Wars Transformers
Hasbro’s Star Wars/Transformers toyline (Amazon.com search*) launched in 2006, making this ad from the March, 2007 issue of Boys’ Life some of the earliest advertising for the series.
I tried to get into this series, and even bought a few releases, but something about the toys just never really grabbed my imagination. Both these and the Marvel/Transformers series (Amazon.com search*) should have excited me more than they did, but something just didn’t work for me.
Hmmmm. But looking at those Marvel/Transformers toys again I’m left wondering if the tooling couldn’t be used as the basis for some special BotCon releases . . .

Vehicle modes look alright, not so keen on the “character” modes. I always felt similarly about the Marvel ones — I was too much of a purist for bot and vehicle modes, haha!
@Wolf – The idea of Star Wars robots works for me, but I think you’re right in that it’s the character modes are off.
Hmm! You’re right, I didn’t even notice the date. Maybe it was from some discarded (or later re-used) concept art.
