Superman Excitement from Warren Publishing in 1979
One thing the old comics and comic magazines of the seventies had down perfectly was advertising to kids. Over a dozen pages at the end of Warren Publishing’s Alien Invasions Comix is nothing but ads, with everything from comics to toys to posters offered to the kids of the time.
The magazine was mostly black & white, with the only color on the covers, so this ad packed with Superman stuff was clearly important since the ad gets one of the few color spots in the comic magazine. The Superman film of the time likely had something to do with Superman getting such great placement in the book . . .

I had that Superman, along with Batman and Robin (w/ hand magnets), Hulk, and Spider-Man as a kid. I only got to try out the ‘fly away’ action a couple times.. it must have been hard to figure out for my dad 🙂
