Level -1’s “Battle at Tannhauser Gate”
Someone out there’s a fan of Blade Runner*. This track, titled “Battle at Tannhauser Gate,” comes to us from the German band Level -1.
The reference to “Tannhauser Gate,” as many of you very likely know, alludes to the Tears in the Rain Monologue spoken by Batty at the end of Blade Runner*.
Sidney Perkowitz, writing in Hollywood science, praised the speech, “If there’s a great speech in science fiction cinema, it’s Batty’s final words …”. He says that it “underlines the replicant’s humanlike characteristics mixed with its artificial capabilities.”
Enjoy the music, and don’t forget to listen to the rest of the album.
