“Sci-fi anthology explores ‘cyberpunk’ trend”
Here’s a fun one for the sci-fi fans in the audience. The August 14, 1986 issue of The Bulletin newspaper includes a review of the sci-fi short story collection, The Year’s Best Science Fiction: Third Annual Collection*, and shares some cyberpunk fun with us all. I’ve long enjoyed these annual short story collections, and after reading this review I immediately ordered this particular collection. Now that’s a powerful review! Almost three decades later and it influenced my purchasing decisions!
“Dozois also is the most fashionable of the genre’s editors. He weighs this year’s collection heavily with work from the “cyberpunk” writers, a self-announced group that stresses near-future computer-tech and lowlife characters. Dozois invented the cyberpunk label and believes that it will grow into a major area of speculative fiction.”
