Games and Trading Cards in Salem, MA

Gina and I walked around rainy Salem, MA yesterday, enjoying the local shops and looking through a little of everything. At one point we wandered into the Red Lion Shop where they had roleplaying games priced at “buy one get two free” and if not for the weight of books I would have grabbed a couple. There was quite a variety of games — from eighties titles to Dungeons & Dragons fourth edition books — and anyone living in the area who hasn’t should swing by and check out the selection.

On the trading card front, there were many different packs available, and all of them were reasonably priced. I grabbed a few packs of Youngblood trading cards for $0.75/each (Amazon.com search*), Famous Comic Book Creators trading cards, and was stunned to find old BattleTech trading card game (Amazon.com search*) packs for just $2.95 each. They had Counterstrike, Mechwarrior, and basic game packs . . . unfortunately, the basic game packs had French language markings on the back so I left those at the shop.

Those Youngblood and Famous Comic Book Creators packs were reportedly available by the box, but since we’re traveling I didn’t have a lot of space to carry stuff. Maybe once I’m home I’ll place a call and order some stuff; how can I say no to a box of Youngblood trading cards from 1992 when the box is priced at just $10?

Fun shop!
