Out of the December 12, 1988 Lawrence Journal-World newspaper comes this associated press article on the creation of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series (Amazon.com search*). It’s kinda fluffy in presentation, but the simple fact the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles found their way into an article at all shows just how the brand was growing back in the late eighties.
Stores report they can’t keep up with demand for the goofy turtles with their slice-and-dice arm action and silly one-liners (“One good turtle deserves another”).
