1988 Newspaper Ad for G.I. Joe and Ghostbusters Toys
Something I’ve noticed as I poke around the Google newspaper archives is that toy ads were in a state of transition during the eighties. The decade started with many toys advertised with line art, but by the mid-years of the decade we started to see photographs used in place of illustrations. Unfortunately, that means the ads in the Google newspaper archives are less wonderful than we would like, but there’s still enough detail captured in the scans to make these ads fun.
