Spider-Man Sells Fishing Poles?
One of the things I encountered in Playthings magazine while in the library last week was an advertisement from Marvel trying to get manufacturers to use comic heroes as salesmen. Well, this ad for Garcia fishing poles from 1983 shows that some people took Marvel up on the opportunity.
Best part of the ad? Well, this comes from a Power Lords comic published by DC. So we get a Marvel character selling fishing poles in a DC comic book for an action figure series. The eighties were awesome!

Is it fair to say that Spiderman was Marvel’s most popular character? That guy were everywhere in the 70’s and early 80’s.
Geez..was everywhere. Not were. That’s what I get for commenting before 9 AM.
