Stompers Included in “Best bets for budget-conscious giving” in 1981

A November 26, 1981, newspaper article found in the Ocala Star-Banner gives us a great peek at the Stompers 4×4 motorized trucks, identifying the toys as “a steal at about $6.95.” Man, I hadn’t realized Stompers were so pricey when I was a kid; no wonder these weren’t something I got deep into back then.

Still, I can remember some great recess excursions during 1981 and 1982 playing with the Stompers at school. These days Defiants (find at Amazon.com*) are basically Stompers; has anyone given the new motorized trucks a chance and are there any thoughts on how the new toys compare to those old Stompers from the eighties?
