Action Jackson Newspaper Ad from 1972
The book with the best selection of information on Mego’s Action Jackson line I’ve found so far is G.I. Joe and Other Backyard Heroes*, and even that book doesn’t give us enough in the way of background and photos of the line. Too bad there’s no big book of Action Jackson toys out there, because if there were I’d grab it and love it forever.
Something such a book would need to make it perfect is lots of information on the Action Jackson outfit sets, sets like those included in this 1972 newspaper ad. I’ve written about action figure outfit sets before — see “The Death of Action Figure Outfit Sets” — and seeing this ad makes me wish (again) that toymakers were devising sets for use with 6-inch scale figures.
