Mind Game “Frank Chambers” 12-Inch Scale Action Figure from DAM Toys
I was a little unfair to DAM Toys earlier this week when I wrote: “DAM Toys seems to have built their business on this [referring to unlicensed action figures] sort of unofficial product design.” While it’s true that the company has several figures inspired by actors and films, they also have some insanely bizarre original toy designs including Frank Chambers, what seems to be the first release in their Mind Game series.
I know the figure doesn’t look all that “insanely bizarre” in the above pic, but that’s only because the toy doesn’t have the VR helmet in place. VR helmet? Yep, the Mind Game concept DAM Toys has created imagines a world where a VR game has become bigger than anything we’ve seen before. A Toyhaven post gives us the story behind the figure:
Human body modification prevails in 2050, and the global economic depression gives birth to a virtual reality game – the Mind Game. Since the game scene is too real and a player can win real money in the game, lots of people all over the world indulge in it in order to escape from the reality.
As I said, an insanely bizarre action figure design. The toy’s up for pre-order at Cotswold Collectibles and listed as a first quarter release. You can find other DAM Toys at Cotswold Collectibles and over at Amazon.com*, but I doubt you’ll see any other figures as weird as this one.
