“N.H. buyers clear shelves of popular toys” in 1984
This 1984 newspaper article, from the December 5 issue of The Telegraph, ranks the top three sellers in stores for that Christmas as Transformers, Cabbage Patch Kids, and Care Bears. The first two align nicely with my knowledge of holiday sales in 1984 — transforming robot toys and Cabbage Patch Kids were big sellers — but seeing the Care Bears in this list was a surprise. I knew Care Bears were a big deal at the time, but I didn’t realize the toys were selling fast enough to be in the same league as Transformers and Cabbage Patch Kids. This requires more research.
