Spotted Online – Transforming Watches

I remember when the transforming watch was a new, exciting toy that I just had to have. I first encountered one of these watches at school and then a few days later, while watching G.I. Joe after school, I saw the commercial. I never owned one and, very soon after desperately needing one, I completely forgot about the transforming watch. I never even bothered to care about the official Transformers watch toy.

Well, I’ve been content for over twenty years without a transforming watch and after reading this post at Toycyte by Collin David — as well as the article at X-Entertainment that David linked to — I still don’t feel the need to buy a transforming watch. Sure, they look neat and all, but I would never wear it and it has no real sentimental value to me. If I had owned one as a kid I would have no doubt snagged one before now, but there’s no way I would spend $280 on one of Takara’s two new transforming watch toys, “Auto Ceptor” and “Time Limit.”

www.tformers.com has a very short entry about these new watches — as well as a photo — and Big Bad Toy Store is now taking pre-orders. I have no idea how limited or rare these will be, but I’m absolutely certain that some of you out there feel a need for a transforming watch toy. Me? I may own a lot of junk toys, but I’ve gotta draw the line somewhere. Right?

  1. The Kronoform watches were pretty goofy with that commercial looking damn laughable.

“Turn it… into a battle station!” It’s the same crappy robot standing on its head. Despite this, my brother had one and it was part of the Autobot faction.

My transforming watch turned into a jet.

  2. in the 80s, i used to own one, completely plastic, and it looked more like transformers.. even though this looks like a serious adult collectible/watch, i prefer a plastic one because of the culture the material refers to…
