“Tiny toys twist, turn, fold, bend; robots form from other objects”

This newspaper article from October 19, 1984 helps illustrate just how popular transforming robot toys were back in the mid-eighties. Mentioning GoBots and Transformers, as well as several Japanese toys, the piece is uncredited and the toys are compared to the Rubik’s Cube in the way that the parts twist and turn in order to turn cars and such into robots.

I feel like I’ve shared this article before, but a search through the battlegrip.com archives is not revealing this exact article. Maybe it only feels familiar since, at the time, newspapers were running so many articles about the popularity of transforming robot toys.
