“5 Toys In One” C.I.R.E.S. Inter-Changeable Robot
If you’ve never heard of The Inter-Changeables toyline, then don’t worry that you need to hand in your collecting card. This obscure series grew out of the death of the Micronauts, and now and then I stumble across something that reminds me of the line’s existence . . . and that’s where this 1984 Big Lots ad comes into the picture. The C.I.R.E.S. robot toy was a re-release of the Mego Giant Acroyear, and the best thing you can do now is check the C.I.R.E.S. page at innerspaceonline.com. WARNING: You will lose hours at that site!

Giant Acroyear was the original Takara robot combiner toy! Not to mention his evil F-15-like alien jet fighter alt mode makes him more or less a proto-Decepticon… heck, the two “Armroid” minions in blue and red are almost like precursors to Frenzy and Rumble in a very loose sense.
@microbry – Which makes me imagine a world Mego survived long enough that the Diaclone toys were brought into the US by Mego and not Hasbro.
