“Cycles of Toy Fashion”
We’ve seen the toy industry compared to the fashion industry before, and we’ve even seen anti-war toy sentiment many times, but this 1966 newspaper article may be the first time I’ve run across the fashion comparison used to deflect complaints against war toys.
What’s even better is that the toy industry representative quoted in the article suggests that a group of parents boycotting war toys may have helped sales of those same toys. “It could be the publicity of your organization that has helped to extend their popularity.” Now that’s some damn good spin!
