Kaws Dissected Keychain at ToyQube

ToyQube reports KAWS is available in the form of a keychain. Okay, a $65 keychain feels ridiculously over-priced to me, but I also just do not get the attraction people feel to KAWS’ (website) work. It looks kinda neat and all, but the prices for the work feel amazingly high to me. (Says the guy who owns a $300 Ashley Wood robot toy. Hey, it’s an Ashley Wood robot. Totally different thing.)

The product description shows exactly how expensive this is: “Kaws Dissected Keyring, 2″ tall, a set of 3. Brown, Grey and Black version.” That’s right. $65 for a 2-inch keychain. That just feels way too high to me; but then, I’m not a KAWS collector so I’m obviously not the target audience.

Do any of you guys collect KAWS’ work? I’d like to know, because maybe a discussion with a few fans will open my eyes to what I’m missing when I look at his toys and art. There’s something there, because there’s a massive demand for his stuff. I’m just not seeing it.
