“Vote For The Character You Like Best” and Masters of the Universe
We’ve seen the Masters of the Universe news story before in which Mattel announced a character design contest, and now it’s time to check the ad in which the semi-finalists are shown and kids have the chance to vote on the designs. 1-900 number voting? Wow, this really is from the eighties! Actually, do 1-900 numbers even exist today? I know so little about current scam systems that the last I can think of are things like “text for a joke” and “text to vote for whatever” methods of taking money from people.
Hmmmm. I appear to be in a cynical mood today. Maybe it’s best if I direct you at the 1985 newspaper where I found this ad and then leave you. Sorry, it’s gonna be one of those days.
