Tara Toy Corp Action Figures Collector Case
The one complaint that I have with this cheap action figure carrying case from the eighties is that I cannot find a date anywhere on the case. One website selling the case claimed that it’s from the seventies, but I refuse to believe that because the artwork on the case was clearly created after Hasbro re-released G.I. Joe in 1982. I’m waiting on a 1982 Tara Toys catalog to arrive in the mail and maybe I’ll find this design there. If I had to guess, though, I’d put this at 1983 or 1984 based solely on the artwork.
Opening the cheap vinyl case we find two basic vac form trays stacked on top of each other. This was pretty much the most common form of action figure carrying case in the eighties, and Tara Toys made so many different designs following the same construction that the company must have had a room dedicated to holding these empty vac form trays. The interior, though, is far less exciting than that cover artwork. Seriously, the only unique material here is that fabulous cover art.
