Marvel Universe 2010 Secret Wars Comic Packs at Big Bad Toy Store
I’ve only picked up a couple of the current Secret Wars sets, but this wave of three new packs looks like each one is going to take a lot of willpower to resist. (Well, the Thor set likely won’t be too tough to resist, but Hawkeye and Ultron look great.)
“Thor & the Enchantress: Clad in his classic uniform complete with winged helmet and billowing cape, Thor is equipped with the mighty Mjolnir. A mesmerizing blonde beauty, the Enchantress is clad in her classic green and black uniform. The Enchantress is imbued with various sorceress abilities, which she directs towards various energy-manipulation abilities as well as self-aggrandizing qualities enabling her to operate through ensorcelled male surrogates.”
Thor and Enchantress both don’t interest me all that much, so I think I’ll be able to safely skip this set.
“Hawkeye & Piledriver: Hawkeye is clad in his classic blue and purple uniform, and is equipped with quiver and bow. A skilled tactician, Hawkeye is benefited by expert reflexes and flawless marksmanship and supported by specialized arrowheads. Piledriver is clad in his classic red and white costume. Transformed by Asgardian magic, Piledriver and the rest of the Wrecking Crew operated under the command of Doctor Doom.”
Piledriver I’m kinda “eh” on, but Hawkeye looks like a great addition to the collection. And I bet he would look good on display with the DC Universe Infinite Heroes Green Arrow (review here).
“Mr. Fantastic & Ultron: Mr. Fantastic is clad in his classic blue and white costume. Granted access to advanced alien technology, Mr. Fantastic led the Fantastic Four faction of the gauntlet of superheroes summoned by the Beyonder to his Battleworld. The mighty Ultron, scourge of the Avengers and bane of all organic life forms, is sheathed in a sculptured, segmented gunmetal-hued chassis.”
Ultron is the one “gotta have this guy” figure in this new wave. I love evil robots, and it looks like Hasbro went all out on this guy and gave us a new sculpt. Mr. Fantastic is another “blah” figure . . . which is no doubt why he’s packed with Ultron.
I’m still holding out for a more Kirby-esque Thor action figure. I love Thor, but have not liked the Schwarzenneger looking figures they have been putting out over the past few years. ML did a nice “first appearance” Captain America a couple years ago, so I still hold out hope for Thor.
Really? Thor and Enchantress are the ones I would want of these, if I keep caving and getting them.
Hawkeye looks good, but Piledriver is a colossal tool: he gets paired up with Hawkeye because they had a brief scene together, in which Piledriver is honestly surprised to get shot with an arrow. Moron.
Ultron is definately the gotta have and Hawkeye a close second, but my hopes are high for a satisfying Thor. Though with the quality control on SW to date, I’m not letting them get too high.
