Bucky O’Hare and Boss Fight Studio

Boss Fight Studio has announced a new line of Bucky O’Hare action figure, completely stunning me since I never once thought we would see the return of Bucky O’Hare toys. The toys and cartoon were released in the early nineties (see Wikipedia), and now we’re left to wonder just how much demand there is for the return of such a strange character and concept.

We will be producing a brand-new, highly-articulated range of 4″ scale Bucky O’Hare, his S.P.A.C.E. allies and Toad enemies!

Created by Larry Hama and Michael Golden, Bucky O’Hare tells the story of a brave band of mammal freedom fighters combating the all-conquering Toad Empire!

  1. I only have a vague recollection of Bucky O’Hare. I have no memory of the cartoon and never owned any of the action figures, but a friend of mine, who seemed to have figures from every line every conceived in the early ’90s (Real Ghostbusters, Darkwing Duck, Dick Tracy, etc.) had several of these. It was always fun to go play at his house because I, who was somewhat restricted in what I was allowed to collect, had the opportunity to play with toys I could never get my hands on.

It seems an odd line to try and resurrect, and an odd time to do so. My opinion is that 90s nostalgia has run its course. October Toys tried to bring back Skeleton Warriors, another great line that time had forgotten and that didn’t go very far (although, you could argue part of that was the Kickstarter approach, and did they effectively get the word out?).

I’ve often thought about trying to collect some of the figures from the Bucky O’Hare line, if only for their ’90s wackiness. Of course I’ve had the same thought with Toxic Crusaders, but have never made any movement to do so.

If they produce some nice looking Bucky figures and the price-to-desire ratio is at the sweet spot I might be tempted to pull the trigger.
