“The Legend of G.I. Joe” Hasbro’s 1982 G.I. Joe Pack-In Catalog
I was going through papers today when I ran across this 1982 G.I. Joe pack-in catalog. Featuring the very first of Hasbro’s G.I. Joe toys of the eighties, this small catalog is from the time before the brand completely abandoned its military roots and embraced the sci-fi oddness of the mid-eighties. No Zartan. No Serpentor. Just pure military hardware and soldier action figures dressed in military uniforms instead of bizarre Halloween costumes.
And hey, I like the sci-fi and Halloween costume era of the brand, but looking back at this it is kinda tough to see how the line went from military hardware to the oddities like the B.A.T.S and Dr. Mindbender. Check out the catalog here.
