Star Wars Imperial Capital Ship Recognition Guide from the 1989 Imperial Sourcebook
Just how big is a Super Star Destroyer? Well, West End Games’ Star Wars RPG of the eighties (find at Amazon.com*) answered that question perfectly in their 1989 Imperial Sourcebook. The “Imperial Capital Ship Recognition Guide” shows us the comparative sizes of over a dozen different Star Wars ships on a two-page spread . . . and then goes on to extend the Super Star Destroyer across another six pages. That is one hell of a big starship!
I always did love this image, and even today the Imperial Sourcebook is one of the better guides to the Star Wars weapons, behind-the-scenes, and organization of the Empire. A lot of this is no longer “official,” I know, but that doesn’t make the book any less fun.
