“Sgt. Rock is on the Move in 83!”
This comic advertisement for Remco’s Sgt. Rock action figures may have a headline mentioning 1983, but look closely and you’ll see that the copyright date is 1982. Additionally, the comic book where I found the ad — #4 of DC’s Camelot 3000 mini-series — has a 1982 copyright date, meaning that this ad was very likely in front of kids before the Sgt. Rock action figures were widely available.
We’ve seen other ads for Remco’s Sgt. Rock action figures and vehicles — “Move Out with New Sgt. Rock Vehicles and Weapons from Remcoâ€, “Battalion Strength with New Soldiersâ€, and “The Battle Action Continues with Sgt. Rock Playsets!†— but this one is so different from the other three that I almost thought this was an ad for the Sgt. Rock comic.
