“The Hottest Movie Adaptation of the Year!”
This 1992 comic ad comes from an issue of McFarlane’s Spawn and leaves one giant question on my mind: Did the comic industry know just how many of their sales in the early nineties were to speculators hoping to make a quick buck? I mean, just look at that tag line and tell me these guys weren’t looking to grab as many dollars as possible from speculators.
“If you buy multiple copies of only one comic this month… make it this one!”
Mike Mignola’s artwork on the Dracula comic* is awesome and all, but I don’t think it was “buy extras to make money!” levels of amazing art.

Oh my gosh! I had no clue that Mike Mignola was involved in this. Honestly, this would probably be worth picking up (I actually do really like this movie, too).
But yeah, totally a spectator’s market back then.
